Temptation Triggers Will Help You Stop Smoking
To begin with it is important to get rid of everything that will tempt you to smoke. These are what is known as temptation
triggers and you must get rid of all of them.
The first thing to help you stop smoking is to get rid of all of your cigarettes. That means if you are a female, that you want to start with your purse. If you are a male start with your pockets.
Get rid of the lighters, the matches and all of the cigarettes in your purse. Get a big garbage bag and dump them into the
bag.
Your next stop is your kitchen. If you have any cigarettes or ashtrays in the kitchen get them and throw them into the garbage also. Make sure that you go through your kitchen drawers and cabinets and get them out of there also.
Look in the living room, bathroom, basement and bedrooms for any packs of cigarette that you might have on the tables or in the drawers.
The idea is to get rid of all of the triggers that might tempt you to smoke. Now the best thing to do after you get rid of the triggers is to replace them with something.
If for example you are tempted to smoke, why not replace them with something. Do you have a favorite hard candy such as a peppermint or butterscotch?
Put bowls of them throughout your house so that if you are tempted to or want to smoke, slip a peppermint into your mouth. If you prefer a butterscotch, then suck on one of those.
Another thing that you can do is to replace the trigger with a favorite activity. Instead of smoking, why not go for a walk, listen to some music or maybe read a book.
